Rueben Ayala from Colorado was drafted in 1944, right after his junior year of high school. He was 18 years old. He never was able to graduate.
Sixty-six years later, Ayala finally got around to doing what he had wanted to do for so long: he earned that high school diploma.
The diploma was made possible through a program called "Operation Recognition - Veterans Diploma Project." The nonprofit program allows veterans whose high school was interrupted because of WWII, Korea, or Vietnam to receive a diploma.
Hear Rueben tell us about his experience and how receiving his diploma after 66 years made him feel. CONGRATS SIR!!
